Beginner Webhosting
Are you just starting out? Go Yahoo, Geocities. Well that is where I started out. They are friendly and offer lots of advice. They have a community. I would look at other people’s sites and see what they did by looking at their source code.
Do you know what the souce code is? Ok go to View on your browser toolbar at the top just past Edit. Click on View and in the drop down menu click on View Source. That is pretty interesting and you can learn a lot there. Do not be shy about contacting people who have a site you like. I did that and got 2 people who offered a lot of free help via email. They were not even selling anything!
If you are going to get into web design you should be forewarned. You have to have some patience. You must save often just like anything else on the computer. Keep backup files. Take your time. You will get faster with time.
Do not take anyone’s artwork without permission. There are lots of free graphics out there, but most require a link back to them. For non-commercial sites there is more free stuff available. There are copywrite laws online, so do have some caution when “borrowing” stuff. If in doubt write for permission.
Oh Tripod is supposed to be another good free hosting service. Personally I have not used it.
If you are really timid about beginning, then most Internet Providers will give you a homepage. Experiment there then look at the source code. It is a beginning. Try a free Blog. Another time I will give a listing of some easy to use free Blog providers.
